In the 1914/18 war a coal miner is conscripted to Flanders Fields to tunnel under the German front line and plant deadly explosives. A teacher's pregnant widow has to deal with the reality of her husbands death and a young Gloucestershire farm boy comes to terms with his injuries which mean he will never again be able to walk behind a plough.

Men like Harry Patch: the World War One veteran who’s insight into the friendship, compassion and brutality of war he eloquently shared towards the end of his life. Harry’s voice is featured on this track. This is the story of three soldiers of the Gloucestershire Regiment the “Glorious Glosters” who regimental motto is “By our deeds we are known“ Ordinary men from an extraordinary generation.
